Pleasant Plain resident Marion FARRIER, 79, died early Monday morning at Jefferson County Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Ron Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.
FARRIER was born April 7, 1903, to Andy and Lida MAITLAN FARRIER of rural Brighton. On Oct. 18, 1922, he married Tempest HOUSTON, in Washington.
FARRIER farmed for many years near Brighton before moving to Pleasant Plain in 1962. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Washington County Farm Bureau. He formerly was a Pleasant Plain town councilman, a member of the National Guard and a school board director.
His wife survives as do nine children. Surviving sons include Junior FARRIER, Pleasant Plain; Leo, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Lester, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Harold of West Des Moines. Living daughters are Betty FAHY, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Rennie WAKELAND, Rock Island, Ill.; Wanda LOWE, New Cambria, Mo.; Joan NORTON, Washington; and Kay POHREN, Pleasant Plain. He also has 29 living grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters and three brothers survive. The are Velva KNERR, Brighton; Flossie JANECEK, Washington; Florence SINES, Washington; Lloyd FARRIER, Brighton; Harvey of East Moline; and Clarence of Washington.
A brother, sister, infant son and two grandchildren preceded FARRIER in death. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
