Carolyn Louise MOORE, 53, of Batavia died at 1:40 a.m. today, Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Loyal Hepker officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the East End Pentecostal Church of God in Ottumwa or to the family.
Mrs. MOORE was born Jan. 12, 1945, in Montezuma, the daugther of Charles Henry and Della T. SMITH MOORE. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Elsie and Clifford DAVIS, New Sharon. She graduated form North Mahaska High School in 1963. She recieved her nurse's aide training in Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was a certified nurse's aide. She worked at Mahaska County Hospital and Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield until retiring due to failing health.
She married Thomas THOMSON, Jr. Dec. 1, 1967, at New Sharon. She has lived her adult life in Jefferson County and was a member of the East End Penecostal Church of God.
Survivors include two daughters: Michelle R. VAN NESS of Batavia and Muriel THOMSON of Fairfield; one son, John THOMSON of Decatur, Ill.; four granddaughters; one grandson; four brothers, Donald MOORE of Lead Hill, Ark., Jim and Marvin MOORE, both of Barnes City, and Harold MOORE of Columbus, Ga.; four sisters, Laverna NELSON of Gibson, Joyce EAKINS of Siver City, N.M., June DEN HARTOG of Eddyville, and Colleen DE HOEDT of New Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents; and one sister, Viola LAMB.
