Randy Lee MARTIN, 22, was found dead early this morning in the living room of his home at 303 N. Sixth.
Dr. C.F. Watson, Jefferson County medical examiner, said MARTIN died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
Officers who investigated the death said MARTIN took his own life with a 410 shotgun, shooting himself in the chest while seated in a chair.
His body was found by his father, Ronald L. MARTIN, about 4:30 a.m. Police received the call soon after.
Services for MARTIN will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Randy Lee MARTIN was born June 18, 1956,in Ottumwa, the son of Ronald L. and Darlene GOLDSBERRY MARTIN. A member of the Free Methodist Church, he had lived his entire life in the Fairfield Community.
Besides his parents he is survived by one daughter, Melinda Mae MARTIN, Rome, and the following brothers and sisters: Ronda WONDERLICH, Ollie; Rodney L. MARTIN, Newton; Renea and Joyce MARTIN, at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee MARTIN and Robert GOLDSBERRY, and a great grandfather, Finley COLLINS, all of Ottumwa.
