MRS. BARTLETT DIES TODAY

Mrs. Amy D. BARTLETT passed away this morning at 6:00 a.m. at the Jefferson county hospital, where she had been taken three weeks ago. Her health had been failing for the past 18 months.

Mrs. BARTLETT was born near Salina on June 6, 1865, but had been a resident of Fairfield for 60 years.

Survivors are three sons:: Shirley BARTLETT of Ottumwa; John M. of Detroit, Michigan; and 1st Lt. R. L. BARTLETT of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Miss Ethel CARSE of Fairfield and Mrs. Anne RIDINGER of Murray, Ia.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, James M. who died in 1915, three brothers: Will, George and Henry CARSE, and two sisters: Mrs. Lennie WHITE (sic - her twin, Adella) and Mrs. Henry BOGEL (sic - Mary Alice).

The body has been taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home where arrangements are pending.

Funeral Services For Mrs. BARTLETT Fri.

Services for Mrs. Amy D. BARTLETT, 80, who passed away yesterday morning at 6:00 p.m. (sic - 6:00 a.m.) will be held from the Hoskins funeral Home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Curtis R. Douglass will be in charge.

Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

… --John BARTLETT of Detroit, Mich., and his brother, First Lieut. Robert of Washington, D. C. who had attended funeral services for their mother, Mrs. Amy BARTLETT, 403 E. Lowe St., were overnight guests in the home of their brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Shirley BARTLETT in Ottumwa, who had also been here for the services. Mr. and Mrs. Shirley BARTLETT returned to Fairfield Sunday to visit with their aunt, Miss Ethel CARSE, who made her home with Mrs. BARTLETT, John and Lieut. BARTLETT returning to their respective homes on Saturday afternoon.
