"A.J." Alvy Eugene KEPHART, 61, of Fairfield, died at his home Monday, July 2, 2012.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Alvy Eugene 'A.J.' KEPHART Jr.

Alvy Eugene "A.J." KEPHART Jr. 61, of Fairfield, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at home.

A memorial service and potluck lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center in the Smith & Cambridge Room, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family and left at the memorial service or mailed to the family at 904 W. Hempstead Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is assisting the family.

Mr. KEPHART was born in Ottumwa Dec. 28, 1950, the son of Alvy Eugene and Lena Pearl SPAUR KEPHART.

He attended school in the Eldon area.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He worked more than 35 years in home and commercial construction. He was a supervisor for Meyers Roofing in California and had his own company, Kephart and Son in Iowa.

Survivors include three sons: Alin "Jay" McNEELEY of Harrisburg, Pa., Michael KEPHART and spouse Patricia of Taylors, S.C., and Chris KEPHART and spouse Teresa of Fairfield; two granddaughters; his mother of Lurverne, Minn. (sic - Luverne?); three sisters, Cathie MILLER of Plattsmouth, Neb., Carol KEPHART of North Mankato, Minn., and Cindy KURTZ and spouse Mark of Luverne, Minn; and two brothers Danny KEPHART and spouse Eve and Randy KEPHART and spouse DeLinda, all of Luverne, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister.
