BIRMINGHAM --- Bruce JOHNSTON, 80, of 2765 Key Blvd., Birmingham, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Birmingham United methodist Church, with the Rev. Reva Rimmer and the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham, where military rites will be conducted by Haney-Brannan American Legion Post No. 181 of Birmingham.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home at Birmingham. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Birmingham United Methodist Church.
The son of Grant and Myrtle ANDERSON JOHNSTON, he was born near Libertyville on Sept. 8, 1918. A life long farmer, he had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Virginia DOCKENDORFF on June 16, 1946, at Danville.
Mr. Johnston was a member of the Birmingham Lions Club, and a director and chairman of the board of Libertyville Savings Bank of Libertyville.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert Edward of Prophetstown. Ill., Jimmy Grant of Wichita, Kan., and Dennis Bruce of Drakesville; a brother, Richard of Marengo; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
