Rites Sunday

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today for Douglas Jon MEYER, 23, who died of injuries he received in a one-car traffic accident northeast of Fairfield early Thursday morning.

The services were held at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the Keota Cemetery. Prayers for a Christian Wake were recited Sunday evening at the funeral home followed by visitation from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

MEYER died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at University Hospitals in Iowa City where he was taken by air care helicopter Thursday following the early morning accident.

Douglas Jon MEYER was born Feb. 20, 1960 in Cedar Rapids. He was the son of Lloyd and La Vonne TRIER MEYER. He spent his early life in Keota and Ankeny communities and graduated from Ankeny High School. He had lived in Fairfield the past five years.

He was employed by IMC of Richland, formerly known as First Miss Chemicals.

Survivors include his parents: La Vonne Kerkove, Ankeny; Lloyd MEYER, Clarence; three brothers and three sisters: Stephen MEYER, Fairfield; Debra SHARP, Jacque MEYER, Scott MEYER and Brian KERKOVE, all of Ankeny; and Joni TURK, Ames.

He is also survived by two nieces; his grandmother, Cora TRIER, Keota, and Marie MEYER, Clarence. He was preceded in death by both grandfathers.
