Beneath yon silent church yard green

My father’s dust reposeth there.

The stars each night look down and seem

To watch that sacred spot with care.

The winds when floating softly by

In gentle whispers seem to say,

Rest now, for neither pain nor sigh

Shall e’er disturb thy sleeping.

Then while the stars their vigil keep,

And winds a solemn requiem play,

Here undisturbed in quiet sleep

Until the great and final day."
