Carl O. BLACK, 88, former resident of Batavia, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient for five days. His home address was 401 N. Court.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home. Interment will be in the Batavia Cemetery.
Carl O. BLACK was born Dec. 25, 1888 on a farm north of Abingdon in Jefferson County. He was the son of William and Louisa PETERS BLACK. A retired farmer, he was reared and educated in Jefferson County and a member of the Abingdon Christian Church.
He was married March 20, 1941, in Ottumwa to Marie McMANN who survives.
Other survivors include on son, Kermit BLACK, Batavia; three daughters, Mrs. Florence BOCKEMUEHL, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Edith DAVIS, Packwood; Mrs. Louise DAILEY, Batavia.
Also five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lorraine BURNSIDE, Richland, Wash.; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
BLACK was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters, one great-grandchild and one stepson.
