Roy BERG Dies At 71

LOCKRIDGE -- Roy R. BERG, 71, died Tuesday at 7:55 p.m. at Jefferson County Hospital. He had been ill the past one and one-half weeks.

He was born Nov. 8, 1904 in Jefferson County, the son of Henry and Amelia WOMELSDORF BERG. He married Mildred C. NELSON on June 6, 1932 at Clay Center, Kan. Owner of Berg Sundries, he had been a Lockridge merchant for over 50 years and was a member of First Augustana Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Retha BERG of Lockridge; two brothers, Frank and Charlie, both of Fairfield; and one sister, Mrs. Clara LIGGETT of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m., First Augustana Lutheran Church, Lockridge, with the Rev. Lenwood L. Monte officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the church. The body is at Weston Behner Funeral Home.
