Robert John WILEY

Robert John WILEY, 92, died April 8, 2011, in Seminole, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon.

He was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Mount Zion, the son of Samuel and Isabella WILEY.

Mr. WILEY attended North Lebanon School and graduated from Cantril High School. He attended classes at Iowa Business College, Chilicothe. He was drafted into the Air Force.

He made a career in the Air Force, serving in many countries, including making 35 round trips to Vietnam as a courier. He retired in 1971 as a master sergeant, and received the Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Commendation Medal.

After the military, he lived in the St. Petersburg-Tampa, Fla., area. He worked as a horticulturist and landscaped many apartment complexes. He was well-known in the area for his flower arrangement.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing and became well-known for his talent.

Survivors include one sister, Isabelle JOHNSON of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Samuel and James; and three sisters, Jane, Josephine and Margaret.
