Lucille Ruth HECKENBERG

Lucille Ruth HECKENBERG, 86, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Jefferson County Health Center.

The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Medea Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Lord's Cupboard.

Mrs. HECKENBERG was born July 27, 1925, in Des Moines County, the daughter of Edward and Minnie TAEGER BREUER. She married Richard Charles HECKENBERG Feb. 5, 1949, at Latty United Church of Christ. He died Oct. 21, 1988.

Mrs. HECKENBERG worked at Burlington Glove Factory, Parkview Care Center, cleaned houses and was a homemaker.

She was associated with First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Farm Bureau, Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary, Lord's Cupboard and was a former member of Bethesda Church. She enjoyed working, sewing, gardening, volunteering, canning fruit and baking candy, pies and cakes.

Survivors include four children: Marilyn HENDERSON and spouse Karl of West Burlington, Margery HECKENBERG of Fairfield, Craig HECKENBERG of Lockridge and Connie ROSS and spouse Mike of Batavia; and one grandson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings: Alma BREUER, Grace FOSTER, Laura BECKMAN, Roy BREUER, Cora MILLER, Alfred BREUER, Edith BREUER and Hugh BREUER.
