Blaine DeHART, 87, of rural Keosauqua, died in a motor vehicle accident near Wayland, Mo., Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Blaine E. DeHART

Blaine E. DeHART, 87, of rural Keosauqua died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in a motor vehicle accident near Wayland, Mo.

The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today in Center Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial with military rites by Beer-Barker Post was in Center Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Center Chapel Church or Center Chapel Cemetery may be sent to the funeral home or mailed to the family at 4211 26th St., Columbus, IN 47203.

Mr. DeHART was born March 24, 1925, in rural Keosauqua the son of Dwight and Pearl PEACOCK DeHART. He married Pauline C. HAUKOOS June 18, 1950, in Roland. She died June 17, 1978. He later married Beverly CUMMINGS and they divorced.

He spent his life farming in the Center Chapel neighborhood southeast of Keosauqua. He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1943 and Iowa State College with a degree in agricultural engineering in 1950.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was an active member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, Beer-Barker Post 113, American Legion, Keosauqua, Van Buren County Historical Society and the Republican Party.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn DeHART and spouse Judy of Grenada, Miss., Dale DeHART of Keosauqua and Tim DeHART and spouse Christy of Columbia, Mo.; six daughters, Lois NOKES and spouse Ron of Westminster, Colo., Blenna DeHART and spouse Susan KEENE of Niangua, Mo., Trena CARTER and spouse Mike of Columbus, Ind., Mishelle LALONE and spouse Gary of Storm Lake, Cara DeHART of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ann DeHART and spouse Derek MARKLEY of North Liberty; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Minona MUELLER of Rogersville, Tenn.; and two brothers, Joe DeHART and Larry DeHART both of Keosauqua.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
