Pg. 8 Col. 1 & 2MRS. T.S. WATERS DIED SUDDENLY
Old Time Resident Of City Died In Home Where She Had Lived 53 Years
Mrs. T. S. WATERS (sic. Theodore Stokley WATERS), one of the oldest residents of the city, died suddenly Tuesday evening at her home, 502 West Burlington street where she went to live fifty-three years ago as a bride and where she had resided continuously since.
She had been in her usual health and her husband and niece, Mrs. Lloyd ARNETTE, who had been visiting at the WATERS home for some time, were uptown doing some shopping about 6:30 oclock. Margaret, the little daughter of Mrs. ARNETTE, came into the WATERS sitting room to speak to Mrs. WATERS and got no response. She saw that Mrs. WATERS was ill and ran about the neighborhood spreading the alarm. A physician was summonded immediately and was at the home before Mr. WATERS, hastily sought out by Charles LINN, next door, could get back. The found Mrs. WATERS unconscious and she never rallied but died at 7:35.
Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock and will be conducted by Dr. W. D. Keesey, district superintendent of the Methodist church. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. WATERS was born in Bridgewater, England, March 25, 1852. The family came to the United States when she was three years old and she came to Farifield as a young woman of 19. She married Mr. WATERS October 26, 1875 and went to housekeeping at once in the home the groom had prepared for her. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary three years ago with a supper to a number of their friends.
They have two children, both of whom are here today - Charles Raymond WATERS of Omaha and Carleton Nicholas WATERS of Chicago. The latter bears as his middle name his mother's maiden name.
Mrs. ARNETTE, the neice, was brought up in the WATERS home. She has with her on her visit here her two children Carl and Margaret. Mr. ARNETTE will be here tonight.
