Beverly Jean CALLEN

Beverly Jean CALLEN, 50, 902 W. Tyler Ave., died of cancer at her home at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 1991.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of God, 1404 Sherwood Drive, Ottumwa,with Stanley Reiley, pastor, and the Rev. John Hedlund officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Township Cemetery at Fremont. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home. The casket will be closed following visitation. A memorial has been established to Hillsboro Christian Church.

Mrs. CALLEN was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Harold R. and Gail J. HEDLUND. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, she graduated from Packwood High School in 1958. She married David F. CALLEN on June 7, 1958, in Albia. She was a member of Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and at one time was chairwoman of the infant car seat program for the county. She worked for several years at Sorden's Mucsic Store and at Walker's before her health began to fail. She took an active role in her husband's minstry at Hillsboro Christian church, was pianist for several years for the Callen Family Gospel Singers, which she organized, and coordinated gospel singing groups in the area.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Debbie HOLLINGSWORTH of Hedrick, Judi PARCELL of Fairfield, Sherri CALLEN of Des Moines; a son, Ron of Mount Clemens, Mich.; twin granddaughters; her parents of Packwood; five sisters, Kathryn NICHOLS of Phoenix, Juanita TUCKER of Shawnee, Okla., Betty KLODT of Ottumwa, Becky DROX of Fairfield, Karen ECKLEY of Hedrick and a brother, the Rev. John HEDLUND of Packwood.
