Helen E. Hunt, 87, formerly of Brighton, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa, where she had been a resident since December 1996.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brighton United Church in Brighton, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

A memorial has been established for the Brighton United Church and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 402 W. Seventh St., Washington 52353.

Mrs. Hunt was born Dec. 27, 1915, near Brighton, the daughter of Hugh and Hazel Arnold Cole. She married L. Dale Hunt Nov. 26, 1938, in Washington. He died June 22, 2003.

Mrs. Hunt was a farm wife and worked at the Brighton Creamery, the Curran Company in Washington, the Button Factory and McCleery-Cummings Company in Washington until she retired in 1981.

She was a member of the Christian church in Washington and attended the Brighton United Church, where she was active as a vacation Bible school helper.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Sueppel of Washington; three sons, Gale Hunt and wife Marilyn of Riverside, Bob Hunt of Aurora, Colo., and Tom Hunt and wife Kathy of Washington; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ted Hunt; one daughter, Rebecca Hunt; three sisters; and five brothers.
