BATAVIA - Verva Z. COUNTRYMAN, 96, Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Batavia, died at 2 a.m. Monday in New Mexico.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Mrs. COUNTRYMAN was born Nov. 2, 1891 in Wellman, the only daughter of Joseph Edwin and Minnie TURNIPSEED, Wellman. She became a member of the Methodist church at age 12. She married John F. "Mont" COUNTRYMAN and lived in the Batavia area. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, William (Bill).
Surviving are two granddaughters, Lynn VINCENT of Ruidoso, N.M., Martha COUNTRYMAN of Albuquerque, N.M.; a grandson, William F. COUNTRYMAN, Albuquerque, and one great-granddaughter.

Admin. note: Per the 1925 IA State Census, Verva's maiden name was WELLMAN; her father was Joseph E. WELLMAN and her mother Minnie TURNIPSEED. Wellman, IA, where she was born, is in NW Washington County, IA.
