Mrs. NELSON Dies At 80

Mrs. Alma Matilda NELSON, 80, 1101 S. Fifth St. died Monday at 8:55 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. A resident of Nelson Nursing Home, she was admitted to the hospital Jan. 22.

Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church, where she was a member, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Keith Lingwall will officiate and burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery. The casket will be brought to the church at noon, Thursday.

The family will receive friends at the Raymond Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Mrs. NELSON was born April 26, 1896 in Packwood, the daughter of Axel and Anna SWANSON JOHNSON. She was reared and educated in Packwood and spent practically her entire life in Jefferson County. She moved to Fairfield in 1961.

On Oct. 18, 1916, she was married to Ed E. NELSON in Burlington. He died Oct. 29, 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Leland of Dallas, Texas, and Ernest of Fairfield, as well as six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were one daughter, two sisters in infancy, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
