E. STORTZ dies at 90

Death came Saturday to Ethel M. STORTZ, 90, longtime resident of Jefferson County. She died at 1:40 p.m. at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant where she had been a patient for six days.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hope Lutheran Church near Germanville with the Rev. Robert Barker officiating. The Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Ethel M. STORTZ was born July 18, 1890, in Washington County, the daughter of Dennis and Rosa KURTZ MESSENGER. She was married to Irvin (sic - Irven) A. STORTZ March 28, 1917, in Wayland. He died Jan. 18, 1953.

Mrs. STORTZ had lived most of her life in Jefferson County and had been a resident in the Wayland area for the past 3½ years.

Survivors include a son, Howard, Brighton; a daughter, Lucile WOLFE, Brighton; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
