J. O'NEILL rites set

Services for John F. O'NEILL, 54, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. William J. Sullivan and the Rev. Karl W. Holtkamp officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the Behner Funeral Home.

O'NEILL died Sunday evening at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

He was a trucker for 22 years for O'Neill Sand, Rock and Coal Co. a veteran of World War II and he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elks, American Legion and VFW.

John F. O'NEILL was born May 18, 1927, in Fairfield. He was the son of Francis J. and Anna KELLER O'NEILL. His marriage to Carole J. GOODWIN took place Feb. 12, 1949, in Fairfield. The family home is at 501 E. Lowe.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Patrick, serving in the army at Fort Riley, Kansas, and Timothy, Fairfield; a daughter, Kerry Ellen HICKENBOTTOM, Fairfield, one granddaughter and his mother, Anna O'NEILL, Fairfield.

Also surviving are four sisters: Mary LOVING, Wauiegan (sic - Waukegan), Ill.; Julia WELSH, Bettendorf; JoAnn O'NEILL, Omaha, Nebr.; and Nancy BAIRD, Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his father.
