Marjory E. McLAIN

Marjory E. McLAIN, 94, of rural Stockport, died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Stockport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Peggy Ellington and Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery in rural Stockport, with Dan Barker officiating.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will be present 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Stockport United Methodist Church or Spencer Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 55, Stockport 52651.

Mrs. McLAIN was born March 1, 1918, near Stockport, the daughter of George and Myrtle SMITH ASKEW. She married Harold "Pete" McLAIN Oct. 16, 1947. He died Aug. 5, 1979.

Mrs. McLAIN graduated from Stockport High School in 1935 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa State College in Ames and American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She worked for the United States War Department in Washington, D.C. After marrying, she and her husband farmed in the Stockport area. She entered Good Samaritan March 21.

Mrs. McLAIN was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary Elvin E. Cecil Unit No. 147 of Stockport and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include two sons, Kriss McLAIN and Richard McLAIN and wife Jayne of Stockport; one daughter, Rita HELLMAN and husband Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Winifred TRUNZO of Berlin, N.J.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and LaMonte ASKEW; and one sister, Genevieve THOMPSON.
