ANNA D. GREBER DIED LAST NIGHT

Sudden Death Of Well Known Woman A Shock To Family and Friends

Miss Anna D. GREBER, a well known resident of Fairfield, who was born and reared in Jefferson county, passed away at midnight last night following an illness of only a week. Although Miss GREBER had not been in the best of health during the last year, her condition had not been considered serious, and her death comes as a shock to her friends and members of her family. Last Monday night, while attending a supper at the Baptist church, Miss GREBER was suddenly taken sick. When she became no better, she was removed to the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Monroe, and medical aid summoned. Her condition continued to grow worse and she was taken to the Jefferson county hospital where death came last night.

She was born in Jefferson county, February 6, 1879, being forty-three years, eleven months and ten days old at the time of her death. She is survived by her father, Jacob GREBER, and two brothers, Fred of this city, and Raney of Kevin, Montana.

Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church Friday afternoon at two oclock, with Rev. W. C. Monroe in charge. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

MISS ANNA GREBER DIED FOLLOWING ILLNESS OF WEEK

Miss Anna GREBER, one of the well-known women of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday night at the county hospital after an illness of about a week. Her serious illness and death comes as a great shock to her many friends, as only a few days ago she was apparently in the best of health.

She was an active worker in the organization of the Baptist church, and it was while attending a reception at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Monore (sic - Monroe) that she was stricken. She was also a member of Fairfield Rebekah lodge.

Miss GREBER is survived by her father, Jacob GREBER, of this city, and two brothers, Fred, of Fairfield, and Ramey, of Montana. The latter reached Fairfield Tuesday night.

OBITUARY

Anna GREBER

Anna Dora GREBER was born February 6, 1879 near Lower Richwoods in Walnut township, Jefferson county, Iowa and died in Fairfield, Iowa, January 16, 1923. Age forty three years, eleven months and ten days.

She was the only daughter of Jacob and Jane Caroline GREBER. She moved with her parents to Fairfield, November 1910. After the death of her mother in March 20, 1911, she took full charge of the home and was a most faithful homekeeper for her father and brothers.

Anna was converted to Christ at the age of sixteen and was baptized into the membership of the Church of God in Lower Richwoods by Rev. David Long. She afterwards, on November 1, 1908, united with the First Baptist church, Fairfield, and continued a faithful and hard working member until the end of her life, having held the offices of secretary of the Sunday school and organist of the Sunday school and church.

She joined the Rebecca lodge of Fairfield, December 25, 1912. She was also a member of the Yeoman lodge.

She was always ready to aid the sick and especially the old people who needed friendship and sympathy and was much devoted to her home and dear ones.

Her father Jacob GREBER and two brothers, Fred of Fairfield and Raney of Kevin, Montana survive her.

She will be greatly missed in the home, church and lodge, but our loss will surely be her gain.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church Friday afternoon January 19. Pastor W. C. Monroe was assisted in the service by Rev. W. A. Nelson.
