ASA D. ROBERTS PASSED AWAY HERE ON SUNDAY MORNING

Asa D. ROBERTS a prominent resident of Jefferson county, passed away early Sunday morning at his home in this city, following a two months illness from a complication of diseases. The funeral serilces (sic) will be held at the Christian church tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. H. Polly. Intement (sic) will be at Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. ROBERTS was born in Washington county, Pa. December 30th, 1848. At the age of seven years his parents died after which he took up his home with an aunt. At twenty-one years he moved to Jefferson countf (sic), Iowa coming to Fairfield some eighteen months ago. March 10, 1870 he was united in marriage to Sarah J. MALLENS (sic - MALLAMS) who died December 4th, 1890 (sic - December 4, 1891). To this union were born four daughters and two sons Mary HEDGE of Belknap; J. L. ROBERTS of Lawrence, Kansas; Lenora B. RAMSEY of this city; Ralph B. ROBERTS of Richland; Nettie B. BENSON of Hazard, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl COWAN of Packwood having passed away twelve years ago (sic - Florence Pearl, died 1907).

On August 13th, 1896 he was united in marriage with Mary M. DuBOIS, whose death occurred two years ago (sic - in 1917).
