Asenath Ross, born Coshocton, Ohio 13 Feb 1851, dau. Of Benj. & Ruth Corwin Ross, died Feb 12 1933 at her home, 402 W. Briggs St., Fairfield; came with her parents to Jefferson County at an early age. In 1868 married Geo. P. Baker, Civil War veteran who died at the old home in Black Hawk Twp. in 1901. Mr and Mrs Baker had charge of the Baker P.O. in this county for 40 years. She moved to Fairfield in 1913; member First Methodist Church. 12 children, 8 survive her: Harry, Guy, Charles, Frank and Erle of Fairfield, Mrs. Fanny Hinshaw of Richland, Mrs. Ida Shearer of Lisbon, N. D., and Mrs. Myrtle Moore of Brighton ….. Bur. McDowell Cemetery.
