May 2, 1968 1-6.Lester WEENIKE of RR 2, Fairfield, died unexpectedly Monday after becoming ill at the Leonard Smith farm. He died enroute to the hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Francis Bass officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery at East Pleasant Plain. Born March 12 1917 in Jefferson County, son of Frederick and Nellie KIRK WEENIKE; reared in the Lockridge community. He was a salesman, veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion. Married Gertrude KURTZ April 17 1937; she died March 22 1966. He was then married to Eunice SMITH. He is survived by his wife Eunice, four stepchildren, two stepgrandchildren, a brother, Glen of Fargo, North Dakota, and a sister Mrs. Nora NITA of Newton.

Lester WEENIKE, route 2, Fairfield, died suddenly Monday while working at the Leonard Smith home north of Fairfield. He was taken to the Jefferson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton where last rites are pending.
Lester WEENIKE, 51, was born March 12, 1917, in Jefferson County, the son of Frederick and Nellie KIRK WEENIKE. He was reared in the Lockridge Community.
WEENIKE was a member of the American Legion, and Veterans of World War II.
He was married to Gertrude KURTZ on April 17, 1937. She preceded him in death on March 22 (sic - March 17), 1966.
Survivors include one brother, Glenn WEENIKE, Fargo, N.D.; and a sister, Mrs. Nora NITA, Newton.
