MRS. MARY E. GABLE DIED EARLY TODAY.

Mrs. Mary E. GABLE, who suffered a stroke of appoplexy (sic - apoplexy) last Tuesday at the home of her son, Wm. S. COOK on South Seventh street, passed away this morning at 2:15 o'clock.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock from the COOK home in charge of the Rev. W. R. Keesey of the Methodist church. The remains will then be interred in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. GABLE was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John HOWARD and was born in Indiana on September 27, 1827. She was past 89 years of age, the day she was stricken with her last illness. In 1848 she came to this county to live and in 1873 moved to Fairfield, where the greater part of her life was spent, with the exception of a few years spent at Waukon and Decorah, Iowa.

In 1850 (sic - 6 Feb 1851), in this city, she was united in marriage to W. S. COOK, who has preceeded (sic) her in death. To them were born eight children, six of them having passed away: Charles, George, Edward, Horace, Henrietta and John. Those surviving their mother are W. S. COOK of this city and Mrs. Nellie GOE, of Mt. Pleasant.

On October 3, 1901 (sic - 1900), she was again united in marriage in this city to Enoch GABLE.

She also leaves three brothers to mourn her death: John HOWARD of Topeka, Kansas, Greenbury HOWARD, of Kansas City, Kansas, and A. S. HOWARD, of this city.

For many years she has been a faithful member of the Methodist church. Many friends will extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family at this time.

The burial place of William is not known at this time, and Enoch/Charles is buried in Waverly, NE, with his first wife Martha.
