OBITUARY.

BROWN. -- August 26th, 1875, Nancy BROWN, wife of Henry BROWN, Sen., aged 77 years.

She died at the residence of her son, in Perlee, this county. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for about 60 years. She died in peace, and has gone to rest in the Paradise of God. May God bless her aged companion, children and friends, and may they finally all meet her on the bright shore of a blest immortality.

On the day of her death she called her children to her and bade them good-bye. She said, "I am going to wear the robes." To her weeping daughter she said, "O my daughter, weep not, but rejoice that I am going to Jesus." When speech was denied her she raised her hands as if welcoming the approach of the Savior. She was a member of Harmony M.E. Church.

* Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Buried in Upper Richwoods cemetery, Jefferson county, Iowa.

Nancy's maiden name was BLISS. Her exact DOB and DOD are uncertain; the headstone for her states she was 76 years old and died on August 25, 1875. Her obituary, transcribed above, starts with August 26th, 1875 and age at death being 77 years. Her DOB is likely somewhere around 1799, give or take a year or two. Whether or not the August 26th, 1875 date used in her obituary was in reference to her death on that date isn't clear-cut.
