DEATH TAKES R. O. McCARTY

R. O. McCARTY, Sr. (sic. Ross Owen McCARTY, Sr.), 88, longtime resident of Fairfield, passed away last evening at 8:00 o'clock, at his home at 300 East Lowe St., after a serious illness for the past two months.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 o'clock from the Weston Behner Funeral Home. Rev. A. P. Keast will officiate and burial in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. McCARTY was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCARTY. He was born August 18, 1856 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and was united to Rosy ZMICH on March 20, 1884, who preceded him in death July 5, 1942.

He was a retired painter and worked at his occupation here for many years.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sarah BUXTON, Las Vegas, N.M. (sic. Nevada ??), and two sons, A. J. McCARTY of Wheeling, West Virginia and Ross McCARTY, Jr. of Fairfield.

Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

Note: Birth location is uncertain. Census reports have it as either Indiana or Kentucky. His obituary claims Terre Haute, Indiana. Needs clarification if possible.
