Jessie STEVER TAYLOR

Jessie STEVER TAYLOR, 92, of Mexico, Mo., died Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2012, at home.

Family visitation was held Saturday at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mexico Area YMCA or First Christian Church of Mexico may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.

Mrs. TAYLOR was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Fairfield, the daughter of Margaret BLACK and Ralph H. STEVER. She married Thomas J. TAYLOR June 22, 1942. He died in 1999.

Mrs. TAYLOR completed a bachelor's degree at Iowa State College and master's degree in education at University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She had been a teacher for 20 years in Iowa and Missouri, ending her career at Community R-VI School in Laddonia.

Mrs. TAYLOR was a member of First Christian Church in Mexico, Mo., where she had taught Sunday school and served one term as chairwoman of the congregation. She also was a member of Chapter HD of PEO; GFWC Federated Club; Audrain Historical Society; Helping Hands Circle of King's Daughters; Area Retired Teachers Association; Beta Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; and National Honor Society. She delivered Meals on Wheels for the Senior Nutrition Center for more than 20 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca TAYLOR of St. Louis; two sons, Jim TAYLOR and wife Pamela of Cedar Falls and Steve TAYLOR of Mexico; three grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
