Death takes Willis WOOD

Willis Hugh WOOD, 79, longtime Fairfield barber, died at 2:34 p.m. Sunday at the Ottumwa Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. The body will be cremated and the ashes will be interred in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

WOOD was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a barber for over 35 years, was employed at the Fairfield Glove Co., as a glove cutter, and was a member of the Fairfield Fire Department for a number of years. He was employed at Abbott's Deluxe Barber Shop for most of his years in business.

Willis Hugh WOOD was born Dec. 7, 1901, in Wayland. He was the son of Walter and Bertha ROTH WOOD. His marriage to Caroline CRAFF took place in 1927. She died March 28, 1948.

Survivors include two sons, Robert WOOD, San Fernando, Calif., and John WOOD, Sylmar, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a sister, Racheal LONGWELL, Washington.

WOOD was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
