Walter J. 'Shorty' HOTLE

EAST PLEASANT PLAIN - Walter J. "Shorty" HOTLE, 71, of East Pleasant Plain, died Tuesday night, April 20, 1993, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

The service will be at 10:30 am. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Tim Bernemann officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, followed by family visitation. The family would appreciate donations to a general memorial fund.

HOTLE was born March 29, 1922, near Rubio, the son of Walter and Ada SINGLETON HOTLE. He was reared in the Dublin area and graduated from Richland High School in 1941. He lived most of his life in Richlan, Fairfield and East Pleasant Plain. On July 25, 1966, he married Anita BALL at Lancaster, Mo. He was an auto mechanic, having worked in several area auto dealerships before becoming a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and VFW, both of Fairfield, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Sandra HOGUET of Mount Pleasant, Rebecca VOGT of Richland, Deanna LANE of Fairfield; a son, Robert of Zion, Ill.; three stepchildren; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Marian DICKINSON of Richland. His parents, a stepson and a sister, Wanda DERBY, preceded him in death.
