Death of Mrs. BRIER

Editors Ledger:- At her home near Salina Monday, April 2d, occurred the death of Priscilla GRANT, wife of William BRIER. Deceased was born in Harrison county, Ind., January 26th, 1833. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1842, locating near Rome, Henry county, where she resided until her marriage with William BRIER in 1856. The young people located on a farm near Osceola, this state, removing in 1866 to this county, to the farm where she resided until her death. Mrs. BRIER was a woman of noble character, and one of kinder disposition was never known. She was a good companion and affectionate mother, ever ready to help those around her and ready to advise her children in what she thought best for their own good. One doing as she advised need never fear getting into trouble. She was the mother of nine children, three sons and six daughters. Her husband and seven children mourn her loss. All her children were with her in her last illness except Andrew of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Frank of Seattle, Washington. Three brothers and a sister were also present, I. B. GRANT and George GRANT of Glasgow, Joseph GRANT of Los Gatos, Cal., and Mrs. NEIL of Missouri. Mrs. BRIER bore her suffering without a murmur, but was not to suffer always. She served her time in this world with all its trials, and was ready when summoned to go to a place of rest. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery Wednesday and services were conducted by Rev. E. L. Schreiner.
