* Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.
Note: Buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 3rd.014. Her husband, John J. McKEE, is buried in Antioch cemetery with his first wife Mary DUDLEY McKEE.
Note: The maiden name has been given as "Sawyer" or "Sawyers", depending on sources. Will use "Sawyer" for this entry pending any further clarification. Little is known about her birth and early childhood, nor are the names of her parents listed in Jefferson county family group sheets for clarification. Obituaries for two children do use "SAWYER" for the maiden name of their mother. It is possible that "SAWYERS" was entered into her death record, creating the confusion.
The exact DOD for Martha is questionable. It has been listed as being Feb. 3, 1921 (which would have been a Thursday). However, her Fairfield Daily Journal obituary published on Thursday, Feb. 3, 1921 explicitly stated that she died on Wednesday night, which would then be Feb. 2, 1921. The February 3rd date may have been entered into her death record, however.
