DEATHS

Mrs. Emma BUCHANAN

Mrs. Emma BUCHANAN, 52 years of age, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital at 1:10 o'clock this afternoon. She had been a sufferer for years with diabetes. Mrs. BUCHANAN, who lived at 804½ West Stone street, became a patient at the hospital yesterday.

SERVICES FOR MRS. BUCHANAN
Rev. Fred G. Crown Will Be in Charge Friday Morning

On Friday morning at 9:30, funeral services will be held in the Hoskins Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. Fred G. Crown, for Mrs. Emma BUCHANAN, who died at the Jefferson county hospital yesterday. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. BUCHANAN is survived by her husband George BUCHANAN, and the following children, Dale who live is [sic] Clarence, Mo., Mrs. W. C. KIRKPATRICK who lives in Keota, Ia., and Bert who lives in Fairfield. Mrs. BUCHANAN had been in poor health for the past 15 years, and had been in a serious condition for the past two months.

Note: Maiden name was "STEWART". Buried in an unmarked grave on the east half of 2nd.271. Her mother, Sarah Elizabeth MASTERS STEWART, is beside her. Also on the same side are George BUCHANAN and his second wife Edna.

OBITUARY

EMMA ALVERDA STEWART

Emma Alverda STEWART, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David STEWART was born near Shelbyville, Mo., March 17, 1881, and died at the Jefferson county hospital, Wednesday, December 13, 1933, at 1:00 p.m. at the age of 52 years, 9 months and 4 days.

She was married to George BUCHANAN on February 20, 1900, and to this union was born four children, Lloyd BUCHANAN of Fairfield Dell BUCHANAN, of Clarence, Mo., and Bernice KIRKPATRICK, of Keota. One son, Stewart, died in infancy.

She is also survived by her husband, George BUCHANAN; her father and mother, William STEWART, of Quincy, Ill., and Mrs. Ollie STEWART, who lived at the BUCHANAN home. Three sisters, Mrs. Henry SWICHER and Mrs. Louis SWICHER of Shelbina, Mo., and Mrs. Clara WILLEY of this city. Two grandsons, Gilbert and Joe KIRKPATRICK, also survive.

Mrs. BUCHANA (sic) was converted about thirty years ago and was at the time of her death a member of the First Baptist church of this city. She had been a patient sufferer for 15 years and had been seriously ill for the past two months.

She was a loving wife and devoted mother and her friends were many, in her church and neighborhood, and her kind and loving disposition was felt by all.

Her unwavering and triumphant faith in her Saviour was her outstanding virtue. She will be missed by her church, the neighborhood, her family, and by a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the Hoskins Funeral Home, Friday, Dec. 15, at 9:30 a.m., Rev. Fred. G. Crown of the First Baptist church in charge. The Scrpiture (sic) text used was Romans 8th chapter and 1st verse, Romans 5th and 1st.

Mrs. Fred G. Crown sang very beautifully, "No Burdens Yonder," and with Mrs. J. C. Howell sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and "No Night There." Songs and singers were selected by Mrs. BUCHANAN. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
