Page EIGHT, Column 2E. P. P. RETIRED BUSINESS MAN DIES SUNDAY
Lewis Thomas BAITINGER, 68, retired prominent East Pleasant Plain business man passed away at his home last evening at 6:30 p.m. He was manager of the general store the past 32 years and was postmaster there for 20 years. He was forced to retire due to a heart ailment and had been in poor health the past three years.
He was born October 2, 1876 at Four Corners and moved with his parents to a farm near Germanville where he spent his early life. He married Malinda McDERMOTT of Ottumwa June 20, 1920 who with five children survive.
Survivors are S. Sgt. Norbert C. BAITINGER of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; S. Sgt Donald A. in the Aleutians; Mrs. Merle KESSEL of Miami, Florida; Mrs. Lester THOMAS of Long Beach, California; Mrs. R. J. CONNAWAY, at home; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Sophie PEARSON of Victor, Iowa. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of the F. A. Hoskins Funeral Home in Brighton, pending word from relatives.

Funeral services for Lewis Thomas BAITINGER, 68, who died Sunday evening after being in poor health for the past three years, were held yesterday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's church in East Pleasant Plain in charge of Father Paul Wetzstein. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield.
Coming to Pleasant Plain to attend the rites were a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Merle KESSELL (sic - KESSEL) and two children of Miami, Florida, accompanied by Mr. KESSEL's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar KESSEL. Staff Sergeant Norbert BAITINGER of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mrs. Lester THOMAS of Long Beach, California also attended.

Public Notice Is Hereby Given:That the undersigned has this day been appointed and commissioned by the District Court of Jefferson County, in the State of Iowa, Executrix of the Estate of Lewis T. BAITINGER, Deceased.
All persons having claims against said estate are hereby notified to file them with the Clerk of said Court, clearly stated and duly sworn to, and within legal time, preparatory to their being allowed or proved, and persons owing said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned and avoid costs.
