Verle A. MATTHIAS

Verle A. MATTHIAS, 66, of Ottumwa, former Fairfield resident, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 18, 1992, at his home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George King officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his name.

MATTHIAS was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Van Buren County, the son of Vern and Agnes L. MILLER MATTHIAS. He married Evaleen I. MANLEY on Sept. 2, 1944, in Fairfield. She died Feb. 6, 1986. He had lived in Ottumwa since 1973 and before that in Fairfield. He worked at Vega Industries in Mount Pleasant and at Iowa Malleable Iron Co. He was a member of Foursquare Church in Ottumwa.

Suviving are three daughters, Judy OSBORN of Rock Falls, Ill., Diana SHOOP and Mary MATTHIAS, both of Ottumwa; a son, David of Worthington, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard of Centerville and a sister, Betty MATTHIAS of Fairfield. His parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
