STANSBERRY services

Death came Friday to Julia STANSBERRY, 86, longtime Fairfield resident. She died at 1:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Julia STANSBERRY was born July 16, 1896, in Kentucky. She was the daughter of Emmert and Mary Elizabeth VINCENT DEMPSEY (sic. poorly worded; father was Emmert DEMPSEY and the mother Mary Elizabeth VINCENT DEMPSEY). She was married to Lane STANSBERRY, who preceded her in death (sic. Lane Earl STANSBERRY died November 13, 1939).

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, OES, and served as a house mother at Parsons College for a number of years. Her home was at 504 1/2 N. Court.

Mrs. STANSBERRY is survived by one son, Darrell, Venise, Fla.; and number (sic.) of grandchildren and great-grandhildren; one brother, Carl DEMPSEY, Fort Madison; and a sister, Lucile OATS, Charlotte, N.C.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one son, twins in infancy, two brothers and four sisters.

Note: Julia and her late husband Lane Earl STANSBERRY are buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. Old.P.202. Their joint civilian headstone has "STANSBERY" engraved in the inscription. The veteran footstone for Lane uses the correct spelling "STANSBERRY".
