DEATH CLAIMS J. A. MULINIX

Joseph A. MULINIX, former long-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away early this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles TWEEDY, who resides three miles south of Pleasant Plain. He had been visiting at the daughter's home since March 16.

His death came at 6:17 a.m. today. He had been in failing health for the past several years and seriously ill the past week.

Last rites will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Joseph A. MULINIX, 87, was born December 25, 1862, in Jefferson county, the son of the late Israel and Margaret MULINIX. He was united in marriage on August 31, 1883, in Jefferson county to Dicy LaVina (sic - Dicy Luvina on their gravestone) ADKINS who survives.

MULINIX spent his entire life in Jefferson county except for 36 years he lived in Michigan. The couple came back to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, last September to make their home and on March 16 came to the daughter's home near Pleasant Plain for a visit.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Methodist church.

Besides his wife, MULINIX is survived by the following six children: Jess of Fresno, California; Harry, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jim, who resides in Springfield, Missouri; Lulu TWEEDY, East Pleasant Plain; Ray and Roy who both reside at Alliance, Ohio. He is also survived by 39 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Three daughters, Nellie, Grace and Eva preceded their father in death.

Note: Buried in Lot 4th.029 with wife Dicy who died in 1955. The surname has been spelled in various sources as MULLINIX and MULLENIX. It is MULINIX on their gravestone.
