Mrs. Edith Harriett PHILIPS, 72, 310 E. Madison, died at 4 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital. She had been seriously ill for the past week.
Services are tentatively planned Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. PHILIPS had been a resident of Fairifld for 30 years. She was born Oct. 21, 1890 at Stockport, the daughter of William C. and Geneva DeWITT CRENSHAW. She was reared and educated at Stockport. She was married to Lealdes PHILIPS Dec. 22, 1909. He preceded her in death June 26, 1951.
Mrs. PHILIPS is survived by the following children: Mrs. Eva HOOTMAN, Mrs. Treva GREINER and Mrs. Meda BURKE, all of Fairfield; Mrs. Erma JOHNSTON, Libertyville; Mrs. Shirley BAIRD, Stockport; Dale PHILIPS, Revere, Mo.; Doyle and Maynard PHILIPS, Keosauqua; and Donald PHILIPS, Stockport.
Also surviving are 39 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Warren MARTIN, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Lillian MARRIONS, Keokuk.
One brother and two grandchildren are deceased.

Admin. note: Buried in Lot 3rd.182 with husband Lealdes. Her obituary notes her birth was in 1890, however her gravestone uses 1891 for a birth year.
