Earl J. ARNOLD

Earl J. ARNOLD, 83, of Keosauqua, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Keosauqua Fire Department or Serve Outdoors may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 94, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. ARNOLD was born Jan. 22, 1929, in rural Keosauqua, the son of Floyd and Kate BARTHOLOMEW ARNOLD. He married Betty Louise HUFFMAN April 16, 1949. She died Dec. 6, 1986.

Mr. ARNOLD attended country school in rural Van Buren County. He worked many years at Keosauqua Creamery and Hohl & Hohl Implement before starting his own business, Earl Arnold Trucking. He logged many miles delivering sand, rock and dirt.

Mr. ARNOLD enjoyed hunting, fishing, harness racing, playing cards, spending time with family and dancing with his wife on roller skates.

Survivors include his special friend, Geraldine Snodgrass; one son, Randy ARNOLD and wife Kathy STORY of Keosauqua; one sister, Hazel SHIPLEY of Keosauqua; two brothers, John ARNOLD of Keosauqua and Mike ARNOLD of Crete, Ill; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don "Bud" ARNOLD and William J. ARNOLD; and one daughter, Kathy ARNOLD BOYLAN.
