Pg. 2 Col. 3MRS. JASPER LATHROP DIED AT HER HOME HERE LAST NIGHT
Mrs. Jasper LATHROP passed away last night about one o'clock at her home on West Van Buren street. She had been seriously ill the past two weeks with pneumonia, following an attack of influenza.
Mrs. LATHROP was born in Louisa county, May 9th, 1862, being at the time of her death 56 years, 8 months and 7 days old. Thirty-five years ago on Sept. 13th, she was united in marriage to Jasper LATHROP of this city. To this union were born ten children, nine of whom with the father survive her. They are Joseph LATHROP of Fairfield, Mrs. A.S. LEWIS of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Clyde SMITH; Mrs. Thomas LEE, Mrs. Frank SMITH; Emma LATHROP, Fred LATHROP, Mrs. George MANLEY all of this city, and Ed. LATHROP of Davenport.
The funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning from the home on West Van Buren street in charge of Rev. L.E. Kuhns and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery (sic. actually buried in Old Fairfield City cemetery, Lot 107 E 1/2).

Note: The exact DOB and DOD for Alice Rachel WHITAKER LATHROP are uncertain. The headstone dates, now mostly illegible, reportedly were read as "1863-1917" at one time. Her obituary states her DOB as being May 9, 1862. The exact DOD is uncertain as well; it has been listed as being January 15, 1919; however, her obituary published on January 17 indicated death being 'last night', which could mean January 16, 1919 instead.
Her obituary, as noted above, stated her burial was to be in Evergreen cemetery. She was, however, buried in Old Fairfield City cemetery in Lot 107 E 1/2. The cemeteries have been known to be listed in obituaries and death records with one or the other inadvertently switched.
The 1944 burial notice for her husband Jasper LATHROP stated that his burial was also to be in "Evergreen cemetery". However, Evergreen cemetery records do not have his burial recorded. It is within the margin of error that he was actually buried in the same plot as his first wife Alice, but in an unmarked grave, with no burial permit known for him. His exact burial location should be considered uncertain at best, despite the obituary statements of burial location being in Evergreen cemetery.
