Margaret RAMBO REED, 92, of Keosauqua, died at 8:30 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Margaret RAMBO REED

Margaret RAMBO REED, 92, of Keosauqua, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Open visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 66, Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. REED was born Feb. 8, 1919, near Douds, the daughter of Leslie and Mary DUNSHEE SWIERS. She married Monte RAMBO Feb. 4, 1939, in Memphis, Mo. He died in a car-train accident Dec. 26, 1948, in Fort Madison. She married Robert O. REED Feb. 23, 1950, in Keosauqua. He died March 26, 1989.

Mrs. REED graduated from Douds High School in 1936. Later in life she attended nursing school in Ottumwa and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Van Buren County Hospital and Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua. She also farmed with her husbands. She lived on the Rambo family farm near Keosauqua until moving to Village Terrace Assisted Living in 2006. She moved to Good Samaritan Society in 2010.

Mrs. REED was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Beer-Barker Unit 113. She had been a member of Keosauqua Congregational Church Ladies Group.

Survivors inlcude six children: Scott RAMBO and wife Nadine of Keosauqua, Rex RAMBO and wife Susan of Keosauqua, Laura DODDS and husband Norman of Stockport; Kay STROEHLE and husband Thomas of Glendale, Ariz., Mary ZOBAC of Glendale, Ariz., and Roberta DONALD and husband John of Mokena, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard and Joseph SWIERS; one sister, Patti CANTRELL; and one son-in-law, Karl ZOBAC.
