Francis Eugene 'Bud' AVERY

Francis Eugene "Bud" AVERY, 82, of Greeley, Colo., died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at McKee Medical Center/Pathways Hospice Unit in Loveland, Colo.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Greeley Wesleyan Church in Greeley, Colo. Interment will be at Fort Logan Cemetery (sic - in Denver, CO).

Memorials may be made to Choose To Invest, a non-profit ministry equipping college students for short and full-time deployment into Kenya, Africa, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.

Mr. AVERY was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., and was adopted by William Henry and Luetta Wynona RAMBO AVERY. He married Gloralie HAYES in February 1953. They later divorced.

Mr. AVERY attended school in Pleasant Plain before joining the United States Army in 1951 and serving until 1953. He then farmed in the Pleasant Plain area. In 1958, he moved to Washington, Iowa, where he worked as a parts man, bookkeeper and credit manager for Fenns Implement Co. He moved to Colorado in 1961 for health reasons. In Greeley, he worked in bookkeeping for Herron and Strong Construction and in the auto parts business for MacArthur Wheeler Oldsmobile/Cadillac, Edwards Chevrolet and later Steven's Automotive until he retired.

Mr. AVERY was involved in Pleasant Plain Friends Church until 1958. For 32 years, he attended Bethel Baptist Church, where he also served as deacon, church treasurer, head usher, bus mechanic and in Christian Service Brigade. He joined Greeley Wesleyan Church 18 years ago and served as an usher and part of the faith sharing team.

Survivors include one son, Timothy AVERY and wife Bennie Jo; one daughter, Pamela BERNARD and husband Ron; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
