MRS. HARRIETT DOUGLAS
(sic. Mrs. Harriet DOUGLAS)

She is survived by two sons, Milton and Edward both of Fairfield, and two sisters, Mrs; Joseph ARMSTRONG of Idaho, and Mrs. William ARMSTRONG of Washington.

Funeral services were held from the Mark Hoskins funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 oclock by Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church. Mrs. Albert Johnson and Miss Mary Stever sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: According to a DOUGLAS family group sheet on file at the Fairfield Public Library in the genealogy section, Harriet was a daughter of William DOUGLAS and Sophia KING DOUGLAS. Her obituary does not name a husband, while a 1940 obituary for her son Edward "Ed"/"Edd" DOUGLAS provides that his parents were "William and Harriet Douglas" and that he was born in Virginia.

In Old.P.116 at Evergreen Cemetery are William DOUGLAS and his wife Sophia KING DOUGLAS. Also are a son of theirs, William H. DOUGLAS (1843-1876) and his wife Harriet A. HANNA DOUGLAS (and one of their daughters, Ida L DOUGLAS). These two William DOUGLAS families are buried on the west half of the plot.

On the east half are buried Harriet DOUGLAS (1833-1926), her son Edward DOUGLAS (1865-1940), her son Milton DOUGLAS (1861-1934) and his wife Nellie Christina BOWERMASTER DOUGLAS, and a daughter Ellen J. DOUGLAS ANDERSON (1859-1888).

No other "William DOUGLAS" is buried on this plot. It now appears that this Harriet DOUGLAS evidently married someone whose name of "William DOUGLAS" happened to match the names of her father and brother. Who he was, and when he died and is buried is not known at this time. Any clarification would be appreciated.
