Wayne E. HARRELL, 91, of Ames, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.
A private family service is being planned at a later date.

Mr. HARRELL was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Fairfield, the son of Willard and Lena HARRELL. He married Ollie PRICE, March 12, 1944.
Mr. HARRELL graduated from Fairfield High School and Parsons College. He later received his banking degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was employed at Boone State Bank during the 1950s. He moved to Ames in 1961 and worked at College Savings Bank, which later became University Bank and Trust Company, as executive vice president and eventually president. After retiring in 1978, the HARRELLs moved to Bella Vista, Ark., until returning to Ames in 2002.
Mr. HARRELL served in the United States Army as a lieutenant in World War II.
He enjoyed golfing and was one of Iowa's leading amateur golfers from his teens through his forties.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike HARRELL and wife Jane of Ames and Steve HARRELL and wife Gretchen of Madison, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
