GERALD RILEY RITES FRIDAY

Gerald B. RILEY, 84, 301 E. Madison, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 1988, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Cary officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established to the Peoples Church of Batavia and the Lord's Cupboard.

RILEY was born March 27, 1903, in Jefferson County, the son of William and Millie LONGERBONE RILEY. He married Florence SCHOOLEY March 16, 1927, in Fairfield. He had farmed in the Farson area of Wapello County until retiring in 1971 and moving to Fairfield. He also had worked as a Wapello County road maintenance operator. He was a member of the Peoples Church and Keep Young Club, serving as co-president in 1979 and 1980.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Dwight of Centerville, Rex of Des Arc, Ark., Dean of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Velma PUDER of Fairfield. A son, four brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.

Transcribed for genealogy purposes, Gerald was my uncle.
