Death of Mrs. LANE.

Ethel SHRINER, wife of Everett B. LANE, died in this city Saturday morning. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.F. Magill, and the remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. LANE was a daughter of Mrs. Charles A. SHRINER. She was eighteen years of age and was married in this city August 20th, 1900. She leaves a babe about three weeks old. Mrs. LANE was born and grew to womanhood in this city. She was a very estimable young woman, and there are many friends who will mourn her death and sympathize with the husband and family.

* Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Married Everett Brinton LANE on August 20, 1900. She was his second wife. She is buried in the LANE family plot (Old.P.104) in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. Her grave is not marked with a headstone, however.

The obituary indicated that she gave birth just three weeks before her death. It isn't entirely certain of the identity of that child. There isn't a 1901 birth or death record for a "LANE" child that fits that time period, so the birth may either have been outside of Jefferson county or was unrecorded. Any clarification would be appreciated. Everett had children from his first marriage, and his third wife Nellie LINN LANE had a child (Margaret) of her own. As a result, this child born in or about November 1901 is something of a mystery.
