Pg. 1 Col. 1MRS. SHANSTROM IS DEAD TODAY
Came From Sweden to Jefferson County Over Fifty Years Ago
Mrs. Gustava M. SHANSTROM, widow of J. P. SHANSTROM (sic. John P. SHANSTROM), died at her home five miles northwest of Fairfield at 6:40 this morning. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the family home.
Mrs. SHANSTROM has been subject for some time to leakage of the heart, and this in conjunction with her age, resulted in death. Although she has not been well during the last winter, she was not seriously ill, until just before the end.
The decedent was born August 6, 1841, in Sweden and came to this country over fifty years ago, the entire time of which she was a resident of Jefferson county. She was very much of a home woman her entire interest being centered in her family - and was affiliated with the Swedish Lutheran church.
Her husband died about twenty-two years ago, and she is survived by six children, Andrew J. BURKE, of Ipswich, S.D.; Della M. SHANSTROM and Etta L. SHANSTROM of Seattle, Wash.; Matilda C. BURKE and Isaac and Jacob SHANSTROM of Fairfield.
* Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.
Note: The maiden name, reportedly, was ANDERSON. Evidently she was first married to a John BURKE, then to John P SHANSTROM.
Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 3rd.020.
