Tuesday December 3, 1991James Thomas LANE, 86, 1000 W. Jefferson Ave., died at 2:20 p.m. Monday Dec. 2, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd E. Disney officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Diabetes Association.
LANE was born April 20, 1905, in Turon, Kan., the son of Henry and Laura GLEN LANE. He married Georgia CAMPBELL, who preceded him in death (sic. she died Sept. 2, 1939). On Jan. 12, 1946, he married Madeline SHANSTROM in Fairfield. He was a farmer, was employed at Louden Machinery Co., and worked at Fairfield Waterworks Department for 12 years before his retirement. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of VFW Post 2271.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Harold, James D., Daniel D., all of Fairfield; four daughters, Karen GORDON of West Chester, Patricia LATHROP of Fairfield, Kathy KLETT of Pleasant Plain, Connie GARDNER of Waukesha, Wis.; two stepsons, Richard THOMAS of Fairfield, Ronald THOMAS of Webster, Texas; a step-daughter, Peggy LANE of Fairfield; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Della OWENS, two brothers, Jess and John and a sister, Della GLEN, preceded him in death.
