Abingdon Rites for R. M. DAVIS

ABINGDON, Ia. -- Last rites will be held here Sunday for R. M. "Jack" DAVIS, 79, who died Thursday at his home in Farson. DAVIS spent most of his life in the Abingdon area.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Abingdon Christian church with burial in the Abingdon cemetery. The body will be taken from Weston Behner Funeral home in Fairfield to the church at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

DAVIS was born Jan. 12, 1875 in Davis county, the son of William E. and Lucinda McKINNEY DAVIS. He was married to Lillian RAMEY March 15, 1899. She died in 1932. Davis was married to Maggie BRADSHAW Nov. 3, 1943. He was a 50 year member of the Abingdon I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 468.

Surviving are his wife and the following children, Mrs. Lela STEPHENS, Dail DAVIS, and Mrs. Lucille DeGOOD, all of Batavia; Willis DAVIS of Hillsboro; Burcie DAVIS of Irvington; Orville DAVIS of Noble, Mo.

Other survivors are the following brothers and sisters, Charles DAVIS, Selma; Alva DAVIS, Edward DAVIS, Mrs. Belle SCHOOLEY and Mrs. Minta DOROTHY all of Batavia. Sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Two sons preceded him in death.
